Street parked under a maple in Ballard for two summers. Sap etching across the roof, hood and trunk lid.
Sap does not stay on the surface for long. Left through a Seattle summer it holds moisture against the paint and etches a crater into the clear coat that no wash will lift.
Whatever was still soft we dissolved. The rest had set and had to be polished out. The horizontal panels took the damage, roof, hood and trunk lid, while the doors and fenders were barely marked.
Full interior detail alongside it, then a twelve-month sealant. The owner has since moved up to a coating, which makes sense for a car that's street parked under tree cover.
